100 Day Project due Thursday morning :)

Just a quick reminder that your child's 100 day project is due on Thursday. We want to have them all so everyone can participate in the "clues" activity. The kids love trying to guess what each has in their bottle.  It is amazing how many things can fit in a water bottle ;)

Newsletter 1/20

This week, we will learn about Chinese New Year on Monday. Then it is all about the 100th day of school!! This is a BIG celebration in kindergarten. Please remember to turn in your water bottle project by Thursday. We will do language arts and math activites around the 100th day.

State Quarters--Let's Support a Math Standard in a fun and different way

As a fun way for our kids to learn and recognize the quarter--we have decided to collect the state quarters. Mrs. Goodman is going to buy a collector's book to put them in. We would love for them to "inspect" your quarters and look for different states we don't have. If they bring a quarter in for the collection that goes in our book--it will be donated to Relay for Life when we have all 50.  I will update which ones we need on the blog.  Thanks for your help  :)

3rd quarter--they must know all the coins and their values--most commonly mixed up are the nickel and quarter--both men have pony tails and look similar. I have tried to tell them they can look at the coin, pick it up and read it--most just guess

Social Studies Standard for 3rd quarter

We need to know our school, city, county, state, country, continent, and planet by name. I will send a game home to work on this soon.  We also need to know our addresses. This is time consuming since every one's address is different. We would love for you to take 5 minutes each day and work on it at home. I will be assessing using a book I made on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the 3rd quarter. If they know their whole address, they get a star sticker on their house in the book.  They are excited to begin. I have shared the book with them. Thank you for your help--it is an important skill to know.
