Felicia M. Angelle

Dear Shallowford Falls Community,

I am thrilled to be the new principal of Shallowford Falls Elementary, and honored to be part of a school of excellence – a school where the community and staff are committed to outstanding student achievement and developing our children to excel in an ever-changing world.

I live in the Shallowford Falls community with my husband, Patrick Cooper, and my two wonderful stepsons, Nick and Drew. We enjoy boating, golfing, exercise, and college football.

I have had the privilege of being an educator for over twenty years. I have taught in South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama, but have been proud to call Cobb County my home for the past 12 years. During my tenure as a teacher, I had the opportunity to serve as a curriculum trainer for the states of Florida and Alabama, and to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. Since taking a position as Assistant Principal in Cobb County 7 years ago, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of King Springs and Kincaid Elementary Schools. My Bachelor’s degree is in Elementary Education, my Master’s degree is in Educational Leadership, and my Specialist’s degree is in Curriculum & Educational Leadership. Collectively, I will leverage my experience with that of my wonderful staff at Shallowford Falls and together we will inspire and educate our students to higher levels of achievement.

The most important commitment I can make to Shallowford Falls’ parents and students is to ensure you that children are my number one priority. As your principal, I will continue to nurture a learning environment that is rigorous and engaging. I am also deeply committed to developing and fostering sincere, sustainable relationships with the students, staff, and parents at Shallowford Falls. I am dedicated to establishing a team where all of us will work together to ensure the best education for our amazingly bright children. I eagerly anticipate getting to know the community, and learning about your hopes and dreams for our excellent school. We will have an exciting time taking this journey together.

Dr. Donna Taylor

Dr. Taylor is thrilled and honored to serve the students, families, and amazing staff of Shallowford Falls as the new Assistant Principal.  She has over 17 years’ teaching experience spanning kindergarten through 4th grade and also teaching as a professor at the graduate school level.  Prior to coming to Shallowford Falls in 2004, she taught in both Dekalb and Henry counties, and at Georgia State University.  Dr. Taylor earned a B.S in Early Childhood Education, a Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy Education, a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Teacher Education and in Reading from Georgia State University.  She has spoken at numerous state and national education conferences and has published articles in local and national educational journals.

Dr. Taylor has lived in the Atlanta area her entire life, and her extended family has lived in Georgia for over six generations.  Her grandmother and great-grandmother taught in one-room schoolhouses, so she feels a deep commitment to educating Georgia’s children.  She is happily married and is the proud mother of three grown children.  She fills her empty next with two golden retrievers and a cat, Mia, who can say her name. In her spare time, Dr. Taylor enjoys reading, canoeing, and gardening.

Bridget Karins

 Mrs. Bridget Karins is the 3rd-5th grade Counselor at Shallowford Falls.  She also coordinates the Student Support Team for all grade levels and promotes the "Increase the Peace" anti-bullying program school wide. 

Mrs. Karins was raised in suburban St. Louis and earned a bachelor's degree in Education and Counseling from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her master's degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  She has worked as a counselor in a variety of educational settings including college, high school and elementary school.  While she has enjoyed working at all three levels, elementary school is by far her favorite of the three! 

Mrs. Karins is married with three children, all of whom are former Shallowford Falls Foxes! Her two older children, Anne and Joe, are graduates of UGA and her youngest daughter, Rachel, is a current Georgia Bulldog.

Mrs. Karins is passionate about being proactively involved with students in ways that vary from teaching life skills lessons in the classroom to problem solving with students, teachers and parents, to building a school enviornment where all students feel welcome and safe.  Her door is always open and you are welcome to drop by, call or e-mail anytime!

David Rollins

David Rollins was one of the original elementary level guidance counselors in Cobb County at its inception in 1989. His first year in the counseling program was shared between Murdock and East Valley elementary schools. While at Murdock he met and married a fellow teacher. David and Jo Anne have a son, Drew, who is a former Shallowford Falls student and now a sophomore at Pope High School. David has been a counselor at Shallowford Falls since its opening in August of 1990.

David was born in Bremen, Georgia and grew up in the Atlanta area. He attended elementary school in Cobb County. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Mercer University with a history major and a psychology and religion minor. He earned two Master's degrees from Georgia State University. The first one was a Master of Science in Community Counseling and the second a Master of Education in School Counseling.

Before working in the field of education he worked as an Intervention/Assessment Specialist for Ridgeview Institute out of the emergency room at Kennestone Hospital. He also worked in a private practice and did consulting work for Active Parenting Publishers.

In his time away from school, David enjoys spending time with his family exploring the roads less traveled, watching Drew's lacrosse games, reading, and projects around the house.

David believes that helping others is one of the best ways to feel good about yourself.

Brenda Ku

Brenda Ku joined the Shallowford Falls staff in 1995 working in the Media Center, the Computer Lab and now as Secretary in the front office. She was born and raised in Winder, Georgia as the "oldest" twin, but youngest of 6 children. She attended Atlanta Christian College where she played basketball. She and her husband of 29 years, Jimmy, have 2 children who "graduated" from Shallowford Falls. Jeremy recently graduated from Georgia Tech and is now employed by Lockheed-Martin in Ft. Worth, Texas, and Amanda is a senior at UGA. Away from Shallowford Falls, Mrs. Ku enjoys reading, tennis, and church work. She enjoys working with the administrators, faculty/staff, students and parents at Shallowford Falls. She seeks to help and serve others with kindness, love and gentleness and considers it pure joy to be a part of the Shallowford Falls family.

Pam Heath

Pam Heath, our school nurse, attended Miami Dade Community College in Miami, Fl where she obtained her RN degree. She started her nursing career in Pediatrics. Pam worked for Baptist Hospital in Miami for four years. She started on the Peds floor and then moved to Pediataric ICU. She is also certified in First Aid and CPR. Pam moved to Atlanta nine years ago. She worked part time for Pediatric Associates as a staff nurse until she decided to become a School Nurse. Mrs. Heath is married and she has two children.  Both girls were graduates of Shallowford Falls.

Hazel Perez

Hazel Perez supports Shallowford Falls as the Records Clerk in the Main Office after many years serving in supporting roles as substitute teacher, PTA President, ASP teacher, on the spot Spanish translator... and parent. Hazel was born in Miami Beach, Florida to Cuban immigrant parents who decided to move the family to "beautiful Downtown Burbank, CA" when she was a baby. Hazel returned to Miami at the age of 9 where she lived until her move to Atlanta in 1997. Hazel studied broadcast journalism at the University of Miami and earned a B.S. degree from Florida International University. Hazel spent many years working for The Miami Herald managing and training the salespeople of the Classified Advertising sales department. She has also served as media consultant to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Boston Globe, Latin Trade magazine, and Atlanta Apartment Guide. Since her "retirement" from the corporate world, Hazel has thoroughly enjoyed being involved in her boys' schools. She has served as President of the Simpson Middle School Foundation and President of the Lassiter High School PTSA.

Hazel has been married to her husband Jose for 24 years. They have two "past Shallowford student" boys - Justin (current graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin / UGA graduate - Go Dawgs!) and A.J. (senior at Lassiter High School).  Hazel and her family enjoy traveling and all sports.

Peggy McClure-Greenough

 Peggy McClure-Greenough has been a Bookkeeper at Shallowford Falls since August 2001.  She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and is the fifth child out of ten.  Mrs. Greenough has lived in the south since February 1991.  Mrs. Greenough holds an Associated Degree in Business Management from Bunker Hill Community College and Bachelors in Accounting from Boston College.  She and her husband Mark have three college age boys; Mark, Jr. attends Chattahoochee Tech, Benjamin attends UGA and Richard attends Kennesaw State University.

Debbie Ahern

Debbie Ahern, known to many of our students as the "m&m Lady", is the After School Program clerk responsible for attendance and record keeping for the program.

Mrs. Ahern became a member of the Shallowford Falls family as a parent enrolling two of her four children in our founding year of 1990. In 1991 she joined our staff as a lunchroom monitor and in 1996 joined the ASP staff as their bookkeeper.

Mrs. Ahern and her husband Larry have raised three boys; Jason, JJ and John, and one daughter, Julie.   Jason is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati while JJ, John and Julie are all graduates of  The University of Georgia. With all three UGA grads having been members of the Georgia Redcoat Drumline, she managed to become quite a fan of the Dawgs as well!  In fact, on occasion, you just might hear the cheer "Go Dawgs!" as you walk past her office.   

As an almost empty nester, Mrs. Ahern enjoys life as a Red Hat Society member, sunbather, avid reader, Dawg fan and spending several afternoons a week working with the ASP students who help keep her young at heart!
