Happy Easter, mates! Hard to believe that it's already the end of April isn't it? A HUGE thank you from myself and my family goes out to you all for my wonderful surprise baby shower. It was a lovely surprise, and we deeply appreciate all your gifts and kind words.
A couple of reminders this week as we close out the month and prepare for the last weeks of school.
1. Please return your yellow portfolio breakfast form as soon as possible so that I am aware of who will attend. Our portfolio breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4th. Parents, you have the option of coming early and viewing your child's work before the recorder concert, or attending after the recorder concert. Our portfolio breakfast will be over by 9:00 that day.
2. On Monday, April 25th, we will attend music instead of computer lab. This is an extra music class for the week to prepare for the upcoming recorder concert. Be sure to bring your music supplies on Monday to class!
3. Congratulations, mates! We won the 4th Grade Spring Into Action for the most minutes of physical activity. We are having a special reward on Wednesday. We will get to eat outside in the outdoor classroom and will enjoy Yogli Mogli yogurt treats after lunch that day. We also have a buddy class activity that afternoon.
4. I am sending home progress updates this week. Academic alerts will not officially go out until the following week, but I wanted to go ahead and give every student a "snapshot" of his/her performance thus far in the 9 weeks. Remember, the last nine weeks become significantly harder to prepare for 5th grade. In some areas, the students have not yet had many grading opportunities so there is still time to maintain or bring up grades. Please, please---make studying a priority as we finish out the school year. You have all worked so hard, let's keep up the good work.
5. Next reading log/math log check will be 5/6/11. All library books are due on 5/11/11 (Field Day). The final reading/math logs are due 5/16/11.
6. This will be the last official newsletter, pending my upcoming maternity leave. Please make sure that you copy your agenda in class daily so that you are always prepared for upcoming tests and reminders. I will try to continue the blog with reminders until I am actually out.
